and yes I said yes I will Yes.

Still looking to get a message to Kate Bush. Found my grandfather Albert Bulbeck though, a story which deserves a post of its own. Which will follow. When I’ve found a way to communicate with Miss Bush. In the meantime….

This business of Kate Bush and permission has been somewhat in the news, because she has finally been granted permission by the Joyce estate to use Molly Bloom’s soliloquy in the recording of her song ‘The Sensual World’ for the forthcoming ‘Director’s Cut‘ album.

What I would very much like is permission to quote, in full, the bridge and chorus of ‘This Woman’s Work’ at the end of one of the chapters of my forthcoming book. I’d cheerfully send the chapter to Kate to see if she was happy for me to use it. Nothing else seems to work; and it seems mad to print a url for one of the many places you can find the lyrics online for readers to click for themselves.. So, please; if anyone knows anywhere I could send a letter, or an e-mail, please let me know.

I’m also quoting from a Larkin poem; he’s much easier to get in touch with, trust me.

There’s a rumour that Kate Bush is going to buy the manor house behind the church in our village. If she turns up in the shop I’ll ask her.
    Can’t say fairer than that.

Where are the blog updates here Ian (have you been in clink for more parking tickets or some such)? Or maybe gainful employment has diverted you from blogging? Or the search for Ms Bush keeping you off line?

I’ve had to rely on the Grauniad to inform me that this year was 60 years since Mr Rolt gave the right away at Towyn

They used to have directories in Libraries of ‘famous’ / ‘important’ people and their agents with contact details. Maybe since the interweb they don’t get published anymore?

Do you still have a library nearby Ian? Migth be worth looking in (if only to up their user numbers so they don’t get closed down by Con Dems) / tab hang some chat for a future short story idea / risk a parking ticket.
