Nowt wrong wi’ brown food. I appreciate a Brown Buffet myself (the type provided by pub landladies of a certain vintage for funerals, or a quiz night’s Christmas do).
BTW, us Londoners aren’t all tucking uncritically into Vietnamese & the like. Not when there are still places like this:

(I tend to wimp out on the jellied eels, though).

This is one of the things that we don’t understand about these people from that London Ian. They eat boiled fish. As you so rightly point out, slimy boiled fish. They need to learn about grilling. And frying, and baking with a sprinkling of oil and herbs. Savages.

Those were summer rolls? They’re not a patch on a corned beef and pickle bap.
It was this young man who pointed out that I only like brown food, incidentally…

I would just like to say that the food was lovely. Summer rolls and steamed sea bass are just too healthy for Daddy’s taste. Here is a man that was once told, “You only like brown food.” So very true.

I feel the same about Tai food. I’ve tried it twice, and think it’s insipid and watery, but people go on about Tai food. People go on about a lot of stuff though, don’t they? There are an awful lot of new clothes for the Emperor, yes, indeedy.
